This is an idea I've had in my head for a very long time, based on an actual existing rest stop near the Mojave Desert that you pass by on the drive to Las Vegas from southern California. Rob's story extends past this, but I wanted to get this part down in writing while it was in my head. I've been working on this on and off for a few weeks, glad to have it done.

Side note, I think this is the first time I've written fiction in present tense in almost a decade. A very strange experience when you haven't done it in a while! The bright(?) side is I still finish all of my writing in the middle of the night, so at least that's consistent.
