Hello everyone!
Today we're bringing you some major changes for Film & Animation deviations, and also some new tools for deviantART muro and Sta.sh Writer!
Film Improvements
Film submission through Sta.sh
The first major change for Film is that Sta.sh is now properly equipped to support film submissions! While it was sort of possible in the past, Sta.sh can now store and submit film files the same way other filetypes can be stored and submitted.
Keep in mind that you have to have film submission privileges in order to submit films to deviantART. For more information on this, please read this FAQ: :faq842:
Film Deviation Page Changes
The second change is regarding the layout of film deviations. The old film layout was designed with an older version of deviantART in mind, and this change places Film submissions back up to speed with the rest of the site. The Film deviation page has been updated to the same layout other deviations have, for consistency, ease of use, and better overall appearance.
While a film is playing, the artist's comments and comments left by other deviants will disappear, so that you can focus on the film without distraction or outside interference. As you reach a point in the film where other users have left annotations, these annotations will appear briefly, and then disappear again.
When the video is paused, you'll be prompted with a comment box, so that you can leave annotations at specific points within the film, just like you could before this upgrade. This allows for an up-to-date look and feel without compromising functionality. In addition, comments left as annotations will include the time the comment was left, as easy reference for any deviant reading through the comments!
Creator Comments
The last change we have for Film is the inclusion of the Creator notification. Before, comments left by the creator of a film would be indistinguishable from other comments left on the deviation, which made it easy for the artist's thoughts and opinions to be buried among the rest of feedback left. As of today, comments left by the deviation creator can be distinguished with a lighter color, and a small box next to their username specifying that they are the creator of that film.
Try it out! To give the new Film layout a try, just head to the Film & Animation gallery and watch some films!

- In addition to the options added to the marquee menu, "select by color", "expand selection", and "contract selection" tools have been added to the Edit menu!

deviantART muro Integration with Sta.sh and Sta.sh Writer
For those of you not familiar with Sta.sh, it functions as a creative space for deviants to upload and save their art. For writers, creation has also been a part of the Sta.sh environment, with the addition of Sta.sh Writer. To help further the potential of creation, we've incorporated deviantART muro within Sta.sh! When in Sta.sh, deviantART muro can now be accessed from the Sta.sh menu in the top left corner.
The other new addition is the integration of deviantART muro into Sta.sh Writer! When in Sta.sh Writer, you can pull images from your Sta.sh to include in the Writer document, and those images will have a pencil menu button in the top right corner of the image. An option labeled "Edit in deviantART Muro" has been added to the pencil menu, and when selected, it will transfer you to deviantART muro to draw!
Once you click Done in deviantART muro, the file will save, and you'll be returned to the Sta.sh Writer document to continue where you left off. That's all there is to it!
To test out the integration of deviantART muro into Writer, head to Sta.sh Writer!
