In our continuous effort to improve the deviantART experience, we're publishing weekly Site Updates to keep members informed and to gather feedback. Below is a list of recent changes to the site, bug fixes, and feedback that was brought up by members in the last Site Update.

What's New

The New deviantART Comments

One of deviantART's strongest assets is the community's ability to bring self-expression into conversation, pushing the boundaries of creativity to a new level. We've improved creative communication by launching a new way to comment on deviantART, with access to formatting, emoticons, and, for Premium Members, the ability to include artwork and files in your comments.

Importing in deviantART muro

A new tool for importing images into deviantART muro has been launched!

When using deviantART muro, there is a new "Import" button located in the right column, beneath the opacity slider. When clicked, the sidebar will change and expand to match the style of Sta.sh Writer's sidebar. This change reinforces consistency between Sta.sh products, and also makes it easier for files to be imported with a single click, be it from your computer, your Sta.sh, or even from your deviantART Gallery!

Change Log

  • The one-month Premium Membership option can now be purchased with PayPal or deviantART Points. Added by sgrahamUK
  • Embedded DeviantArt muro Redraws would incorrectly link to Sta.sh items, resulting in an error. Fixed by inazar
  • Multiple error messages would display if an incorrect password was entered in the Shop checkout. Fixed by iconocrash
  • For a small number of Groups, the "Previous" and "Next" navigation buttons in the Gallery did not work properly. Fixed by muteor
  • There were some visual problems with email update notifications. Fixed by muteor
  • When sending a note to a Group, there were display issues with the "Send Note" button. Fixed by shadowhand
  • Thumbnails in More Like This results weren't respecting Mature Content or "Hide & require login to view" settings. Fixed by kemayo
  • For some Prints, sharing to Tumblr did not work properly. Fixed by iconocrash
  • When browsing and leaving a comment in Full View mode, the comment would appear twice after being posted. Fixed by fartprincess
  • Former Premium Members were unable to see when they last changed their username or when they could next change their username on the Settings page. Fixed by iconocrash
  • Premium Membership rebilling cancellation and updating notifications were visually improved. Fixed by DEVlANT
  • The dropdown menu in Sta.sh was obscured by thumbnails on the mobile website. Fixed by fartprincess
  • Comments hidden by a deviation's owner would have an incorrect background color. Fixed by helloandre
  • Internet Explorer 10 users would encounter script errors after authorizing the Sta.sh application. Fixed by shadowhand
  • There was an issue where ads would appear when editing a deviation. Fixed by drommk and  ZombieCoder
  • When viewing specific comments or replies, the title would not display correctly or link to the correct location. Fixed by iconocrash

Sta.sh / Submit

  • After merging items into a stack from the File menu, the resulting stack wouldn't be selected. Fixed by drommk
  • Deleting a Sta.sh item in Chrome could result in the wrong item being deleted. Fixed by drommk
  • Recently uploaded images would flash after uploading. Fixed by kouiskas
  • The changing display of multiple items in a stack when hovered over would not update after adding new items or merging that stack with something else. Fixed by kouiskas
  • When ctrl (command, for Mac) is held down, using the arrow keys will now select additional items instead of deselecting. Fixed by drommk
  • Dragging to select while near the edge of the page/window will now scroll the screen in that direction at regular intervals, selecting as it goes along. Fixed by drommk
  • Browser windows wouldn't scroll to newly selected items if using the left/right arrows to do so. Fixed by drommk
  • When submitting, if a deviant attempted to schedule a submission on the hour, they would encounter a "You cannot schedule items in the past" bug. Fixed by kouiskas

Sta.sh Writer

  • HTML links couldn't use the "target" attribute. Fixed by kemayo
  • The Community Emoticons area of the Emoticons section of the sidebar were not limited to the Chat-Friendly Emotes category. Fixed by kemayo
  • Not all invalid attributes were being removed from pasted HTML, causing some display issues. Fixed by kemayo
  • When leaving comments using the Add Media button, older emoticons pasted into the comment would cause invalid markup when the comment was submitted. Fixed by kemayo
  • Resizing one's browser window while the Add Media toolbar was open wouldn't resize the comment box. Fixed by kemayo
  • Long words in comments were escaping the comment area. Fixed by kemayo
  • Deviations created in deviantART muro and drawn on from a Sta.sh Writer document could end up not being linked to properly when embedded. Fixed by kemayo
  • Thumb codes were briefly working in comments for non-Premium Members. Fixed by kemayo
  • Using the Link option in the toolbar to embed a deviation/image would make it appear as though it worked properly, but would not work upon submission. Fixed by inazar and kemayo
  • Some HTML markup was not working properly. Fixed by inazar
  • When leaving comments in Sta.sh, the toolbar would prevent the "Previous" and "Next" buttons from working properly. Fixed by inazar

Your Feedback

Thanks for the feedback on last week's Site Update! Here's some of the feedback you left:
  • Feedback in response to the Discuss topic varied. Several deviants mentioned that they felt their Favourites were both a place to collect things they like and showcase artwork, though other deviants felt that their Favourites were more for themselves.
  • Regarding easier methods of discovering art Favourited by deviants you watch, those who commented generally were opposed. Some deviants mentioned that if it were separate from the Message Center and respected one's Activity settings, they wouldn't be as opposed.
  • Deviants would like a word count tracker in Sta.sh Writer. Suggested by ohsparrowsong

Emoticons in Comments
The New deviantART Comments have brought emoticons and their usage to the forefront like never before. The "Emoticons" section of the Add Media sidebar enables all deviants to easily choose from official and/or community emoticons, allowing for even more expressive deviantART comments. Tell us about your emoticon commenting experience.  What have you found useful? What could still be improved?

When I search it's only letting me view the first page and then it says "end of results" and/or the other pages aren't loading. What's wrong?
